Who can apply
The stated date-of-birth interval is 1 May 2012 to 31 July 2014, inclusive. The candidate must be a bona fide resident of the relevant district and studying Class VIII during 2026–27 in a government or recognised school of that district.
Always verify final results, dates, documents and admission directions through official NVS sources.
Paper and merit
English and Hindi each carry 15 questions/marks; Mathematics and General Science each carry 35. The objective paper lasts 2½ hours at Class VIII difficulty. Sectional qualification is required, while merit uses Mathematics, Science and the higher-scoring language.
Vacancies and excluded JNVs
Lateral entry fills vacancies, not a fixed fresh intake. PDF page 27 lists JNVs where IX LEST 2027 is not conducted because Class IX does not exist or accommodation is insufficient. Check that annexure before assuming a district has available admission.
Result and admission
Check the application portal, relevant JNV website or notice board for the result. Provisional selection becomes admission only after original documents, eligibility, district and category claims are verified.
Use the guide alongside the original document
This guide explains the relevant Navodaya Vidyalaya selection-test rules in plain language, but the class-specific prospectus and subsequent official notices govern an individual application. Open the linked PDF at the relevant page, confirm your academic session and preserve the current notice. If your district, category or study situation has a special condition, ask the responsible JNV or official help channel before assuming a general example applies.
